About The Artist
Hello all! My name is Danielle and I'm an artist from the Caribbean island of Trinidad. Like many artists, I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil. I started to improve my skills when I was 15, preparing for my final exams to graduate secondary school.
I used to be a dry media artist, using charcoal, pastels, pencils, and coloured pencils, but after taking a back-to-basics art course when I was 17, I learned how to use and fell in love with watercolour. It has been my medium of choice for 9 years. I've since branched out, adding acrylic paints and inks to the mix.
The work I create today is inspired by nature and microbiology. I love sitting down, choosing a few colours and taking the time to draw and paint every little detail to create beautiful, organic patterns. I also dabble in abstract art, taking advantage of the freedom to create without a plan.
When I'm not making art, I like to write my own stories. I post some of my work to my AO3 and Fictionpress accounts. When I'm not creating at all, I like to read mystery stories, listen to interesting and educational videos on YouTube while I work, read my Bible and crochet.
Currently, I'm working on officially setting things up for my part-time art business to run smoothly and I freelance as a graphic designer, creating social media content.
